Leftist supports change, revolution, new social order and goes against status quo. Rightist supports already existing social hierarchy, emphasizes on traditions, social values and advocates status quo.
For a student in order to be a good analyst must listen carefully to both the leftist and the rightist political point of views. It will give him the chance to ear the cases of both of them and concludes his point of view in accordance with his own biases as he must and will have to side either with the leftist or the rightist. Leftist and Rightist debate is one of my favorites of activities that I enjoy.
In political spectrum, Leftist and Rightist scale is used to classify the political and ideological tendencies of a person, a group or a party. Leftist and Rightist scale is a very useful tool to know the political direction of different peoples and different parties who lie their respective opinions in either of these directions. Left and Right debate has started almost three centuries ago at the time of French and American Revolutions when Leftist and Rightist used to sit at the left and right of the King and from thereon the terminology gained currency.

Levin Yuval's 'The Great Debate' presents the case of Thomas Paine as a Leftist and Edmund Burke as a Rightist and the birth of Left/Right debate. This book is the living example of the importance of Left/Right Debate and shows how important it is to listen to both of them as either of the parties are presenting and advocating their respective case of "truth".
According to Levin Yuval, each party or individual looks at the truth partially given his/her own limited vision and perception and considered his 'part of truth' as the 'complete/absolute truth' and ignore the case of other who in contrary also emphasize his 'part of truth' .. hence, on that point happens the difference of opinion which divides both of left/right on political arena and lead both of parties to intense rivalry. To understand Left/Right Debate help us get the idea of why certain political parties tend to take certan point of views and why certain political parties tend to emphasize on certain point of views.
Along with Left/Right Debate, we can also use Hegelian Dialectics to try to understand political questions. Hegelian Dialectics includes a thesis(a point of view.. for example of a Leftist) an anti-thesis (opposite point of view for example of a Rightist) and a synthesis( of a mixture or blend of both the point of views in order to approach a situation, a political problem in a certain way) three of which together attempts to understand certain political questions that arises and via this hegelian method we try to find the truth of the matter or atleast try to get the nearest possible answers of the political questions.
To conclude, Left/Right debate is exceptionally an interesting debate that excites the passion and ignites the curiosity as to what is the absolute truth and on which side of the pole (Left or Right) does the truth lies.
